A comprehensive look at Air China's premium cabins, service philosophy, route network, and what makes them worth flying.
Airline overview
Air China is China's flag carrier and a Star Alliance member since 2007, flying from Beijing's Capital and Daxing hubs to 218 destinations. Capital Pavilion business class uses the Collins Aerospace Parallel Diamond seat — lie-flat, direct aisle access, converting to a 76-inch bed on widebody aircraft.
Founded in 1988, Air China is headquartered in China and operates to 218+ destinations across 80+ countries. The fleet is built around Boeing 777-300ER, Airbus A350-900, Boeing 787-9, Airbus A330-300 and Airbus A330-200 for long-haul operations, with additional narrowbody types on regional routes. Air China is a Star Alliance alliance member, which gives passengers access to lounges and booking across all partner carriers worldwide.
The business class experience
Air China Capital Pavilion features Collins Aerospace Parallel Diamond seat, lie-flat, direct aisle access. Seat width is 22 inches and fully extended bed length is 76 inches (6'4") lie-flat bed — comfortable for passengers up to about 6'3" (190cm) to sleep fully flat. The seat layout on Air China's long-haul widebody aircraft typically offers direct aisle access for every business class passenger, so you never have to climb over a seatmate.
In-flight entertainment is delivered via Seatback touchscreen IFE. Dining on Air China: Chinese and Western cuisine. Baggage allowance in business class: 2 × 32kg checked. All flights include amenity kits, premium bedding, and priority boarding/baggage handling.
Lounges and ground experience
At the home hub: Air China Business Lounge (PEK/PKX). At other airports worldwide: Star Alliance partner lounges worldwide. Lounge access is included with your business class ticket — you show your boarding pass at the lounge entrance and receive food, drinks, WiFi, and dedicated workspaces until boarding time.
On the ground at departure, Air China business class passengers get dedicated check-in counters, fast-track security lanes where available, and priority boarding. At arrival, baggage is tagged with priority labels and comes out first — typically saving 15-30 minutes versus economy on heavily-loaded flights.
What travelers say
“A real named seat product (Parallel Diamond), not a generic recliner — competitive with other Star Alliance widebody business cabins. Star Alliance membership is valuable for global connections. Beijing hub network covers mainland China extensively.”

Air China aircraft we book
Air China air china capital pavilion on each aircraft type — cabin product, seat configuration, and route examples.
- Boeing 777-300ERBoeing
The dominant long-haul widebody for the past two decades. Most carriers operate two cabin generations on this airframe: older 2-3-2 Business (avoid where possible) and newer 1-2-1 sliding-door cabins (Emirates Game Changer, BA Club Suite, Qatar Qsuite, AA Flagship Suite).
- Airbus A350-900Airbus
Slightly shorter sibling of the A350-1000. Same cabin technology and pressurization. Used widely across Singapore, Lufthansa, ITA, Delta, Air France, JAL.
- Boeing 787-9Boeing
The most-deployed long-haul widebody in current production. Cabin pressurization (~6,000 ft) and humidity (10-15%) better than older 777 metal. Composite fuselage allows larger windows.
- Airbus A330-300Airbus
The widely-deployed older-generation A330. Cabin technology is older than 787 or A350. Many carriers operate 2-2-2 Business on A330-300 (older configurations) or 1-2-1 on newer cabin retrofits.
- Airbus A330-200Airbus
Shorter A330 variant — primarily medium-haul. Premium cabins are typically smaller (16-30 Business seats). Cabin pressurization same older generation as A330-300.
