Throne Seat
Definition: A throne seat is a premium cabin seat in the centre of a row that benefits from extra width and storage because it has no neighbour on either side, creating an exceptionally spacious and private experience.
Throne seats occur in staggered business class configurations where the centre seats alternate between being close to the aisle and close to the centre console. The seats positioned further from the aisle are surrounded by console space on both sides, creating an unusually wide and private footprint.
These seats are highly prized by solo travellers because they offer the most space in the cabin without paying for first class. Airlines with popular throne seats include Oman Air, Gulf Air, and several carriers using the Collins Aerospace Super Diamond layout.
The nickname "throne" comes from the regal, commanding feel of sitting in an expansive space surrounded by personal storage, side tables, and console areas. SeatGuru and frequent flyer forums often highlight throne seats as the best picks in the cabin for experienced travellers.
