What this comparison covers

This guide compares what 12 airlines say about business class on nonstop flights from the US and Canada to Europe, without rankings. Details are as of October 2026 unless a source date is given.

US airlines: Delta, American and United

  • Delta Air Lines: Delta One seats convert into flat beds; Delta says its Delta One Suites have full-height doors (January 2026), and a July 2026 Delta page says they fly on most A350 and A330-900 flights. As of October 2026, Delta One Lounges are at New York JFK, Los Angeles, Boston and Seattle, and Delta One includes free Wi-Fi. Nonstops leave from cities including Atlanta, Detroit and Salt Lake City.
  • American Airlines: As of October 2026, every Flagship Business seat on international flights is lie-flat; the newer Flagship Suite, with a privacy door, is on the premium-configured 787-9, A321XLR and retrofitted 777-300ER. Flagship lounges are in Chicago, Dallas Fort Worth, Los Angeles, Miami and Philadelphia. AAdvantage members get free Wi-Fi on select international flights. Nonstops leave from cities including Charlotte and Phoenix.
  • United Airlines: As of October 2026, every United Polaris seat is lie-flat with direct aisle access, and United describes sliding doors only on the Elevated 787-9 (temporarily unavailable in March 2026). Polaris lounges are at Chicago, Houston, Los Angeles, Newark, San Francisco and Washington Dulles. Starlink Wi-Fi is free for MileagePlus members where fitted. Nonstops leave from cities including Chicago, Houston and San Francisco.

London and Dublin: British Airways, Virgin Atlantic and Aer Lingus

  • British Airways: As of October 2026, Club World has two seat designs, depending on aircraft and route: the Club Suite, which BA says is on all Heathrow–New York JFK routes and has a door, direct aisle access and a 6 ft 6 in bed, and the older Club World seat, where many seats lack direct aisle access. BA's Heathrow lounges are in Terminals 3 and 5. Starlink Wi-Fi, free for British Airways Club members, is being installed. Nonstops to Heathrow leave from cities including Nashville, Cincinnati and Toronto.
  • Virgin Atlantic: As of October 2026, every Upper Class seat has direct aisle access, a flat bed of up to 6 ft 7 in, and a privacy door or divider, depending on aircraft. Clubhouses are at Heathrow, New York JFK, Los Angeles, San Francisco and Washington Dulles. Starlink Wi-Fi, free for Flying Club members, covers the A350 fleet. Nonstops to Heathrow leave from cities including Tampa and Orlando.
  • Aer Lingus: As of October 2026, Aer Lingus Business Class seats are lie-flat, and its seats pages give a 6 ft 5 in bed (some of its aircraft pages say 6.5 ft); 90% of A330 Business seats and 60% on the A321neoLR have aisle access. Aer Lingus lounges are in Dublin, London Heathrow and New York JFK. Wi-Fi is complimentary for Business Class customers. Nonstops to Dublin leave from cities including New York JFK, Boston and Chicago.

Paris, Amsterdam, Frankfurt and Munich: Air France, KLM and Lufthansa

  • Air France: As of October 2026, all Air France long-haul Business cabins have fully flat beds; the new Business seat, on new-configuration A350-900s and refurbished 777-300ERs (including those with La Première), has a sliding door and direct aisle access for every passenger. Air France lounges are at Paris-Charles de Gaulle and eight North American airports. Starlink Wi-Fi, free for Flying Blue members, is being fitted. Nonstops to Paris leave from cities including Minneapolis and Montréal.
  • KLM Royal Dutch Airlines: As of October 2026, World Business Class seats are full-flat. KLM's 787s are laid out 1-2-1. In 2023 KLM announced a 1-2-1 seat with a sliding door for its whole 777 fleet, though KLM's 777-200ER and 777-300ER pages still list 2-2-2. KLM's A330-300 page also lists 2-2-2, so not every A330-300 seat has direct aisle access. The Schiphol intercontinental Crown Lounge has paid showers. On intercontinental flights with Wi-Fi, Flying Blue members get a free Message Pass and full Wi-Fi is a paid pass; not all KLM aircraft have Wi-Fi. Nonstops to Amsterdam leave from cities including Houston and Miami.
  • Lufthansa: As of October 2026, every Allegris Business Class seat has direct aisle access and the front-row Suite has a door; Allegris flies on the A350 from Munich and the 787 from Frankfurt. Non-Allegris seat maps show seats in pairs (2-2-2) on most A350-900s and the 747-8 main deck. Business Class passengers can use Lufthansa Business Lounges, and FlyNet gives Miles & More members free messaging. Nonstops serve Frankfurt from cities including Seattle and Miami, and Munich from New York JFK.

Lisbon, Scandinavia and Istanbul: TAP, SAS and Turkish Airlines

  • TAP Air Portugal: As of October 2026, TAP lists full-flat Business seats on the A330neo, A330-200 and A321LR; seat maker Recaro says the A330-900neo seat gives every passenger direct aisle access. Lisbon has the Tejo and Atlântico Premium Lounges. Wi-Fi on the A330neo and A321LR includes free messaging. Nonstops to Lisbon leave from cities including New York JFK, Boston and Montréal.
  • SAS Scandinavian Airlines: As of October 2026, SAS says its long-haul Business has fully flat beds in a 1-2-1 layout, so every traveler has direct aisle access. SAS runs its own SAS Lounges in Copenhagen, Oslo and Stockholm, and at Newark Liberty (Terminal B). SAS lists free Wi-Fi outside Europe with Business, though terms vary by aircraft. Nonstops leave New York JFK for Copenhagen and Oslo.
  • Turkish Airlines: As of October 2026, Turkish Airlines describes Business Class seats as lie-flat with a 193 cm bed; the 787-9 is 1-2-1 with aisle access for every passenger. The Crystal suite, with a door, was announced in 2024 for new A350s and a 777 retrofit. Istanbul has Lounge Business, and Business Class gets 1 GB of free internet. Nonstops to Istanbul leave from cities including Seattle and Dallas.

  • Ticket type: As of October 2026, Air France and KLM Business Light tickets do not include free lounge access, United Polaris Base tickets include United Club access instead of United Polaris lounge access, and Delta Basic Business seats are assigned after check-in.
