Singapore Airlines Business Class Review 2026 — A350 & B787
Last updated
Singapore Airlines Business Class has quietly become the best overall premium cabin experience in global aviation — a statement that requires some explanation given Qatar's Qsuite leads on hard product and Emirates leads on cabin feel. But on the combined measure of seat, service, catering, and ground experience, SQ has pulled ahead over the 2024-2026 period with the A350 regional and A350-900ULR ultra-long-haul deployments.
The 2023 A350 Business Class seat
Singapore's A350-900 Business Class (introduced 2023, now on most long-haul A350 rotations) is a reverse-herringbone 1-2-1 configuration with a proprietary seat design that does several things differently than competitors. The seat is extra-wide (25 inches at shoulder level), the bed extends to 76 inches flat, and the storage integration is exceptional — every compartment is purpose-designed for specific items (laptop, shoes, reading materials) with dedicated lighting.
The seat does not have a closing door (unlike Qsuite or Delta One Suite), which is the one place SQ has not followed the 2020s industry trend. Singapore's argument has been that the privacy wings and seat angling provide sufficient privacy without the claustrophobia of an enclosed suite. Most passengers agree in practice — the cabin feels more open than Qsuite while still providing personal space.
The A380 Business Class cabin
Singapore's A380 Business Class on the upper deck is still excellent — a 1-2-1 configuration with the proprietary SQ seat (predecessor to the A350 design). The A380 Business on SIN-LHR, SIN-NRT, and SIN-SYD remains one of the best overall business class experiences flying. The cabin is quiet, the SQ flight attendant service standards are exceptional, and the Singapore Sling cocktail service is a cultural moment.
The A380 is being phased out of some SQ rotations as A350 and 787-10 deliveries expand, but SIN-JFK non-stop, SIN-LAX non-stop, and SIN-SYD are still A380-operated daily as of 2026. For passengers who prize the A380 cabin feel, these rotations are worth seeking out.
Singapore Airlines service and catering
SQ's "Book the Cook" service is a genuine differentiator — passengers can pre-order main courses from a 40+ item menu up to 24 hours before departure, with selections including the "SQ Signature Collection" featuring dishes by celebrity chefs (Yoshihiro Murata, Zhu Jun, and others). On long-haul flights, the multi-course meal service is paced deliberately and the crew attends to each passenger individually.
The Singapore Girl crew training remains distinctive. Crews go through 15-week training before first solo flights, and continuing education every year. The result is service that feels genuinely personal rather than scripted — crew remember passengers from earlier meals, anticipate needs without being prompted, and handle irregularities gracefully.
Champagne service is consistent Charles Heidsieck Blanc de Blancs on most long-haul rotations, with Krug or Dom Pérignon on flagship flights. The SQ wine list is selected by a Master of Wine consultancy and rotates seasonally.
The Singapore hub experience
Changi Airport is ranked the world's best airport most years, and for SQ Business Class passengers the experience is exceptional. The SilverKris Business Class Lounge in Terminal 3 features a full-service restaurant, quiet zones, shower suites, and direct boarding for most SQ departures. The lounge's "Private Room" area offers genuine sleep-quality relaxation with draped beds and black-out lighting.
For ultra-long-haul passengers on SIN-JFK or SIN-EWR (the world's longest non-stop flights at 19 hours), the pre-departure lounge experience meaningfully affects arrival energy. SQ schedules these flights for late-evening departure from Changi, allowing a 4-5 hour lounge dwell for passengers on inbound connections.
Singapore Airlines on long-haul routes
SIN-JFK non-stop (19 hours, A350-900ULR) is the signature SQ route. It's operated daily with 67 Business Class seats (no economy, premium economy only) and represents the world's longest commercial flight by duration. The Business Class experience on this flight is calibrated for the duration — extended sleep schedules, lighter catering on the middle portion, and specific in-flight programming designed for ultra-long-haul circadian rhythm.
SIN-LAX non-stop is also A350-900ULR, 17 hours with similar Business Class configuration. SIN-FRA, SIN-CDG, and SIN-ZRH are A350-900 or 777-300ER rotations at 12-13 hours. The regional SIN-SYD, SIN-NRT, and SIN-HND routes operate mixed A380 and A350.
Booking Singapore Business Class for less
Direct-booked SIN-LAX or SIN-JFK Business Class typically runs $6,000-$9,500 round-trip in 2026. Consolidator fares through wholesale channels consistently price at $4,200-$6,100 for the same flights — a 30-35% discount. SQ is less aggressive on promotional pricing than some competitors, so consolidator channels are where meaningful savings come from.
KrisFlyer (SQ's program) offers Saver-level redemptions that are particularly strong from the US to Asia via SIN. Saver Business Class JFK-SIN is often 99,000 miles each way, which represents meaningful value versus cash fares. KrisFlyer miles transfer from Amex Membership Rewards, Chase Ultimate Rewards, and Citi ThankYou Points at 1:1.
